Courses that include a dissertation or long project (and most Health courses) usually have a workshop on managing sources or using EndNote Online timetabled in the second or third year.
However, it is useful rather than necessary.
Undergraduates: We recommend that you consider using EndNote Online for your dissertation or long project, to manage and organise your sources. Foundation (level 3) students: EndNote Online is unnecessary at this level of study. Although it can do a lot of repetitive and boring work automatically for you, to use it effectively you need to know how to use the software, and the basics of your referencing style, to ensure that you are entering the correct data into EndNote. Use 'Cite While You Write' in Microsoft Word (requires plug-in) - to insert references instantly, as you type. Export references from databases with ease as you search. Create your own searchable library of citations. 
Using EndNote will save you time and help organise your references for citing in your work. EndNote is reference management software it allows you to keep track of your citations, organise them into folders, and create references and bibliographies in your assignments, projects and research papers.
